Ive been reading  the History of Harrison Co W. VA. by Henry Haymond. I have a question. On this site you have that John married Phebe Thompson, then later Milly Gillispy. Ok in the book under 'a List of Marriages Celebrated in th County from 1784-1794' pgs. 447-451. On April 8 1793 it has 2 entries for John Greathouse marring Pheby Thompson and the John Greathouse marring Milly Gillespy. Were there 2 Johns or is the book wrong? Little confused now. Thanks

Hello Susan,

We are currently working on correcting this error.

We believe this error occurred during transcription of the marriage records of Harrison County VA for a book which was published in 1979.

We will have more info on this correction soon.

Since my last post. I found a photo copy of the original record that was copied at the W.Virginia site.  John Greathouse married Milly Gillaspy he did not marry Phebe Taylor. I have also seen on people's trees and here at the point that John married Phebe Thompson
"about 1774 in , Harrison, Virginia (Later West Virginia).
Marriage Notes: Harrison County, VA Marriages
Call #: #975.5 V2mc"
How can this be? Harrison County wasnt formed then and I cant find any record like that from Mongolia County or the other counties Harrison was formed from
 Any thoughts or help on this?
