Raymond Greathouse-Oregon, Elmer Greathouse-Texas
Raymond Greathouse was Elmer Greathouse's father, We would like to know if there is any information as to where Raymonds' parents are buried.

There is also a Greathouse Cemetery near Gatesville, Texas. Do you have any information about it and how you might contact them for interment?

Thank you,
Lillie Greathouse

Do you have birth dates or estimated birth dates for your Greathouses? Especially the one born in Orgeon?

There is a Greathouse Cemetery in Bell County, Belton, Texas, I know of none in Coryell Co., Gatesville, TX, but that does not mean there is none there. The Greathouses buried in Belton are descendants of Early Greathouse, he is from the southern states. Let me hear from you about Raymond.

Gladys emailed and requested that I reply with the following message...

I use to live in Gatesville for 11 years and wasn't aware of a Greathouse
cem near there but a friend of mine that lives there says there isn't but
there were a couple that was buried in the Copperas Cove cem in 1924 &
1928, didn't give me names, and also thought maybe Charles Reeve may have
some info on Greathouse as she thought he had a connection, I I had
talked to Charles about the Greathouse, I don't remember so may not have
been a connection to mine at the time. She thinks this is his address.
Copperas cove is about 30 miles south of Gatesville.

I received the following information via e-mail
from Bobbie Ross, the TXGenWeb coordinator for Coryell County:

There is not a Greathouse Cemetery in Coryell County.
The database only shows 2 of this name burried in this county, both in the Copperas Cove City Cemetery:

GREATHOUSE B. 25 JAN. 1855 15 SEPT. 1928 Copperas Cove City
GREATHOUSE LIZZIE BETH 10 MAR. 1864 13 APR. 1924 Copperas Cove City

In response to Lillie Greathouse's comments posted 15 March 2003, Raymond Greathouse-Oregon was my uncle.  My father Elmer O'Dell Greathouse (E.O. Greathouse) was Raymond's younger brother; not his father.  They were both born near Blackwell, TX (Nolan County).  One of their brothers Barney Greathouse was very prominent in Midland, TX and is buried there.  Their parents were Benjamin (Ben) and Birdie Greathouse, both deceased. Ben and Birdie were originally from Arkansas. Birdie's maiden name was Storey.  I don't know where Ben is buried but Birdie is buried in Douglas, Arizona.

Raymond died in Oregon and is buried there.  E.O. died in 1994 in Jackson, MS and is buried in Welch, LA with his wife Mildred Kimball Greathouse who died in January 2004.  Mildred was born in Welch, La.  E.O. had two sons, Dan G. and John D. Greathouse.  Dan has two daughters Mindy and Kristen. John has three sons Chris, David and Michael.  Dan, John and all their children live in Houston, TX.

I know this is a little late, but in case John Dee or Dan Greathouse comes on the site again. I have an answer to wheather Benjamin middle name was Dee or Daniel. He was born Benjamin Dee Greathouse, for some reason he Adopted the name Daniel. Birdie didn't know why, but told her daughter this. Thought John Dee would love to know!
Dan, Ben D and Birdie Mae are buried in Calvary Memorial Cemetery, in Douglas, Cochise County AZ.
