Ivan Dale Greathouse, age 61, of Durbin, died Thursday, December 12, 2002.
     Born April 13, 1941, at Durbin, he was the son of Ella L. Morgan Greathouse and the late Ivan Door Greathouse.
     Mr. Greathouse was an avid deer and bear hunter, a worker for Howes Leather Company, a truck driver for Grimes Logging Company, Burford Coal Company, and was a heavy equipment operator for numerous companies. He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church on Back Mountain. He was also a member of the National Rifleman Association and the West Virginia Bear Hunters Association.
     He was preceded in death by his father.
     Survivors include his wife, Frances Greathouse of Durbin; his mother, Ella Morgan Greathouse, of Elkins; three sons, Kevin Greathouse, Carl Greathouse, and Donald Greathouse, all of Durbin; a sister, Donna Hommema, of Elkins; three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
     Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Bethel United Methodist Church on Back Mountain by the Rev. Lawrence Bennett, the Rev. Harold Swecker, and the Rev. Carl VanStavern. Burial was in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Ina Alice Greathouse Shelkey      Ina Shelkey, 99, of Arlington, Virginia, formerly of Durbin, died September 19, 2004, in Arlington. Ina and her husband, Donald, continued to maintain their home in Durbin.
     Born January 13, 1905, she was a daughter of William Commodore and Maggie Hevener Greathouse. Ina was a graduate of Davis and Elkins College, Elkins.
     She is survived by her husband, Donald Eugene Shelkey, of Durbin and Arlington, sister Katherine Shiley of Roanoke, Virginia, two daughters, Joanne Nicely, of Alexandria, Virginia, and Jane Groat of La Plata, Maryland.
     Preceding her in death were one infant child, her sisters and brothers, Annie Cromer, Bertie Sheets, Nettie Cassell, and Herman, Herbert, and Ivan Greathouse, and three sons, William Lewis Rose, Robert Ottmer Rose and Benjamin Allen Rose. Ina was fortunate to enjoy 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
     Services will be held Thursday, September 23, 11 a.m., at Wallace and Wallace Chapel, Arbovale. Burial will be at the Arbovale Cemetery. Lunch will be served immediately following at the Durbin Methodist Church. Condolences may be forwarded to Donald Shelkey, 3127 S. 13th Street, Arlington, VA 22204.
