On 16 Nov 2007, Greathouse Point received a document package from the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives, Public Records Division, which contained 116 pages from the chancery suit that Gabriel Greathouse filed in the Paris District Court, Bourbon County, KY, in 1799, when he sued Andrew McCreery; his mother, Mary Morris Greathouse McCreery; Richard Morris and others for what was due him from his father's, Daniel Greathouse deceased, estate.

The back of the last page of these documents are stamped with the following certification: 

I certify that this is an exact photocopy of the original unaltered document, which is on deposit at the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives, Public Records Division.

Source: Bourbon County Circuit # 3166 (case was renumbered from original case # which is in our notes)

The seperate Answers of Andrew McCreery to the bill of Complaint of Gabriel Greathouse Exhibited against him and others in the Paris district Court.

This Deft Saving and reserving to himself all and all manner He Answers and says, that he believes Complainant's father died in the year 1777, and that he understands that John Greathouse was appointed Adm'or, to the Estate of Complainant's father Daniel Greathouse deceased, that the widdow of the said Daniel Greathouse had Administred on the Estate of the said Daniel, and that afterward this deft. Married said widdow. This Defendant does not know the amount of the Estate that the said Widdow Mary (now his wife) received from the hands of John Greathouse the first administrator, That Complt. was about three years old when he this defendant married his Mother Mary, that he supported him and gave him Education until the age of Seventeen years; when Complt. left this Defendant went to learn a trade. The this Deft also give him a mar worth about L16, but he never meant to Charge Complainant therewith, that complainant neither since the time he came of age now before that time ever call this degendant to a settlement as Administrator in right of his wife neither did he ever require or talk anything about it only once he wished to look over the papers, respecting the estate. This defendant after the time of his Marriage with Complainants Mother, administered on the Estate of the said Daniel to about the amount...

The Commonwealth of Kentucky To the Sheriff of Bourbon county Greeting: We command you to summon Andrew McCreery and Mary his wife and Richard Morris to appear before the judges of our Paris District court at the Courthouse thereof on the third day of this next October Term to answer a Bill in chancery exhibittio against them by Gabriel Greathouse, Heir at law of Daniel Greathouse deceased, and this they shall in no wise omit under the penalty of one Hundred pounds each. And have then these this writ. Witness Thomas Arnold clerk of our said court this 19th day of August 1799 In the very year of the commonwealth.
