George E. Greathouse

George E. Greathouse, 80, of Akron, passed away Sept. 25, 2002, at his home, with his family by his side.

Born April 9, 1922, in Spencer, W. Va., to the late Everett and Cluff Greathouse, George proudly served his country in the Army, during World War II in the South Pacific with the 1881st Engineers Battalion. He was retired from Atlantic Foundry after 39 years of service. George was a member of Cliff Hockey V.F.W. Post 3532, and en joyed his family and golfing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Cynthia; brothers, Gilbert and Gail; sister, Irene. George is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Doil; sons, Larry (Pauline), Dale (Cheryl) and Tim; daughters, Judy (Alex) Kura, Eula (Chet) Harlin, Shirley (Don) Testa, and Loretta (Duke) Goodrich; sister, Doris Harp er of West Virginia; 18 grandchil dren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be re ceived Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, 9 to 10 a.m., at NEWCOMER-FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. (Route 91), where funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m., with Rev. Joyce Carr officiating. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family suggests that memorial con tributions be sent to V.N.S. Hospice, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, Ohio 44333, or Alzheimer Association, 1815 W. Market St. Suite 301, Akron, Ohio 44313.
