Bedford County Chronology

Bedford County was founded from Cumberland County in 1771. Bedford gained from Cumberland and lost to Northumberland in 1771. Bedford lost to the creation of Westmoreland in 1773. Bedford gained from Cumberland and Northumberland in 1779. Bedford lost to the creation of Huntingdon in 1787. Bedford lost to the creation of Somerset in 1795. Bedford lost to Franklin in 1798. Bedford lost to Somerset in 1800. Bedford lost to the creation of Blair in 1846. The boundary between Bedford and Blair was clarified [no change] and Bedford lost to the creation of Fulton in 1850.
