1747, Apr 12 - Baptism: Rachel Greathouse

Excerpt from St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Germantown:

Rahel [Rachel], daughter of Herman and Maria Grothausen, born the 20th of February, 1746, baptized the 12th of April 1747. Sponsors: Jurg [George] Rieger & Barbara Riegerin.

Footnotes:

1) Prior to the adoption of the Gregorian Calendar in 1752, March 25th was the first day of the Julian year. While the baptism of Rachel Greathouse occurred on 12 Apr 1747, her birth occurred on 20 Feb 1746. She would have been conceived about nine [9] months prior in May 1746, so it would be plausible for Herman & Mary Stull Greathouse to have married about May 1746 or before.

2) From the conception of Rachel Greathouse occurring in May 1746, the marriage of Herman Greathouse & Mary Stull can be derived as probably occurring near Elizabeth Town, Frederick County, MD where Mary Stull would have been residing with her father John Stull, before May 1746.

3) Herman Greathouse co-witnessed a debt payment between Jonathan Hedges and Abraham Teagarden with Daniel Cresap near Oldtown, Frederick County, MD on 9 Jun 1746, within a month after the conception of Rachel Greathouse occurred in May 1746.
