1806, May 30 - Consent/Marriage Bond: Daniel Sayre and Sarah Hall

this is to inform Mr Staret Clerke of Mason Countey that Joseph Hall and Sarah Hall His wife has Consented to give their daughter Sarah Hall - To Daniel Sare for His Lawful wife so as thare may be - no Hindrence in git ing His licens

Excerpt from Marriage Bond of Daniel Sayre and Sarah Hall:

Know all men by these presents that we Daniel Seare & Jonathan Wright are held & firmly bound unto William A. Cabell Esqr. Gov.r of Virginia in the Just & full Sum of One hunand & fifty Dollars To which payment well & Truly to be page unto the said Gov.r & his Executors in Office we do bind ourselves our heirs & Witness our hands & seals this 21st day May 1806.

The condition of the above obligation is Such that whereas a marriage is intended shortly to be solemnized between the above named Daniel Sayre & Sarah Hall If therefore there should be no Lawful cause to obstruct said Marriage then the above obligation to be void else to remain in full force.

Gallia County, Ohio recorded the 19 June 1806 marriage of Daniel Sayre and Sarah Hall by Fuller Elliott, J. P. Much is written in Ohio history about Fuller Elliott. He was an educated pioneer leader who finally settled somewhere close to the Letart area. He served as minister and justice of the peace, and was a friend of the Sayre families. Letart Falls was a part of Gallia County prior to the 1839 formation of Meigs County, OH.

2) Question: Was John Greathouse and Sarah McDade married by Fuller Elliott, J. P. of Letart Falls, Gallia County, OH? This couple was not named among the marriage returns of Francis Watkins, J. P. of Point Pleasant, Mason County, WV between 1806 and 1809.
