Harrison County Chronology

Harrison County was created by Virginia from Monongalia in 1784. Harrison lost to the creation of Randolph in 1787. Harrison lost to the creation of Wood in 1799. Harrison gained from Monongalia in 1800. Harrison gained from Randolph in 1802. Harrison gained from Ohio in 1805. Harrison lost to creation of Lewis in 1816. Harrison lost to creation of Marion in 1842. Harrison lost to the creation of Ritchie in 1843. Harrison lost to the creation of Barbour in 1843. Harrison lost to creation of Taylor in 1844. Harrison lost to creation of Doddridge in 1845. Harrison was separated from Virginia and became a county in the state of West Virginia in 1863.
