1801 - Settlement: John & Rohanah Greathouse Stackhouse settled in York Township

John Stackhouse had settled at York Township by 5 Jan 1805.

Footnotes:

1) Prior to moving to York Township, Belmont County, OH, John Stackhouse was assessed for personal property taxes, as a resident of Harrison County, VA between 1799 and 1800. It is believed that he moved to York Township, with his in-laws, between 1801 and 1805. The first reference to John Stackhouse in York Township, occurred in 1805, when he was named on a tax list.

2) On 11 Oct 1798, John Stackhouse and Ragina Greathouse were married by George Towers, in Harrison County, VA. In the couple's marriage bond, Ragina Greathouse was named as, "Rohanah Greathouse, daughter of William Greathouse".

3) The in-laws of John Stackhouse were probably the William Greathouse and his wife Mary, who, on 28 Feb 1799, sold 100 acres of land on Coplin Run, Harrison County, VA to George Roby. On 17 Jul 1797, the same William Greathouse Jr., petitioned the court of Harrison County, VA, with his half-siblings, to record the inventory of their father, William Greathouse Sr.'s estate, which his step-mother, Barbary Greathouse, had neglected to return to the court.

4) On 8 Nov 1801, a [John] Leonard Greathouse married Sarah Parsons in Harrison County, VA.

5) In the 1820 census for Wayne, Belmont County, OH, the age of the eldest female in John Stackhouse's household related the time of her birth as between 1780 and 1790. Also in the 1830 census of Wayne, Belmont County, OH, the age of Rhoaner [Greathouse] Stackhouse, who was the head of the household after John Stackhouse's death, related the time of her birth as between 1780 and 1790. If Ragina [Rohanah] Greathouse was age between 15 and 18, at the time of her marriage in 1798, then she would have been born between 1780 and 1783. Where was her father, William Greathouse Jr., residing between 1780 and 1783?

6) Between 1792 and 1803, William Greathouse Jr., his wife Mary, their daughter Rohanah and probably their son, [John] Leonard Greathouse, were named in records of Harrison County, VA.

7) Between 1775 and 1783, a William and Mary Greathouse, along with their son, John Leonard Greathouse, were named in records of Plainfield Township, Northampton County, PA. Was Rohanah Greathouse born between 1780 and 1783, while her father, William Greathouse Jr., was serving as a Corporal in Captain Lewis Stacher's Company of Plainfield, Northampton County, PA Militia?
